Attempt New Things & Ask For Help

For PB4L, we are reminding ourselves why it is important to attempt to do new things and to ask for help. This session encourages students and people so that they can continue doing what they find interest in or so they can improve their academic performance.

It is important to attempt new things because trying new things would help you find your passion in sports, learning, etc…

It is important to ask for help because ask for help to get ahead…

I found this task interesting because this shows people why it is important to ask for help and try new things

Match Girls Strike of 1888

LI: To identify the significance of the Match Girls Strike of 1888.

  • Today we had a session with David, our PB4L leader. He was teaching us about the match girls strike of 1888. This Strike of 1888 explains the hardships that the match girls went through, this eventually led to a protest trying to raise awareness for women who don’t get appreciate their hard work by not getting paid.I found this task intresting because I learnt that women had to fight for their rights in order to do something.

Firework Provocation

We have been learning how we can be safe when using fireworks. We have made a DLO showing different perspectivs on why fireworks should banned and why it shouldn’t be banned.we had our laerning conversation talking about our opinion on whether it should be banned

In our opinion we think we should ban fireworks because when fireworks explode it releases toxic metals which the human body inhales and causes damage to your lungs due to the toxicity from the firework. We also think it should be banned because some people own pets that get easily triggered from the loud noise that the fireworks maintain, therefore that is why we think fireworks should be banned.

Film Festival

Transportation

LI: To identify the 4 different modes (types) of transport and their changes over time.

Link to Infographic

The 4 different modes of transport are air, land, sea and rail. We explored more about the types of transportation and how they have evolved over time to build an understanding of how humanity makes changes to vehicles like cars, boats, trains and planes.

An example of air, land, sea and rail based vehicles are planes, cars, boats, & rails.

I found this task fun because me and my group could talk about the different modes of trasportation on many different life habbatats. An interesting fact I learnt during this activity was trains can move under water how you might ask people make under water sea tunels so people can travle far dissdences under water.

ReadTheory Analysis

LI: To understand the language of questioning.

Today we reminded ourselves what questions were asking us to do with the information we had. It is important when you are answering questions about a text you have read that you know what information you need to look for to find the answer.

We created a collaborative DLO to help other strengthen their connections to the language of questioning using an exemplar text from Readtheory.org and our own questions.

I found this activity interesting because I revisited a topic I was familiar with but built a stronger understanding of what I should provide in my answers when asked questions that include the words who, what, when, where, why, which and how.

bird Silhouette art

LI: To learn how to use tone, blending and different brush strokes with paint.

this friday we have been learning about how to corporate tones, blending and brush strokes with our art using paint we had to blend different colours to make a background for when we stick our bird Silhouette on our painting. We then let to dry and it looked cool

Different perspectives

LI: To notice what types of point of view (POV) are used.

This we were learning about the 5 perspectives of the narrator and point of view. There are 5, 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person, 3rd person omniscient point of view, and 3rd person limited point of view.

We first challege ourselves to write a typical day at school in first, second, third person. First person – I arrived at school and I saw my friends playing touch. We restarted the game and me and my friends scored a team try. Later on the bell rang and we went to class to start our daily routine at school.

I enjoyed this task because it taught me what the 5 different perspective meant and how to identify a 1st, 2nd, 3rd person story.
